SALVADOR DALI

It took Dali 13 years to create...It became the 2nd most successful museum in Spain...
There was only 1 opening night...and these are the posters...

These color lithographs were done for Salvador Dali to announce the opening of his crowning achievement: the Dali Teatro Museo (Dali Theatre Museum) in Figueres, Spain. The opening on September 28, 1974 was the ultimate art event of the 1970s and filled the streets of Figueres with thousands of people hoping to be a part of this historic moment. This wildly successful private museum is the world's largest surrealist object, and is also the location where Dali lived out his last years. He and his wife Gala are buried in a crypt beneath the museum's entrance. The collection of 10 original posters is sold only in limited edition boxed sets, accompanied by the official museum guide, published by the Gala Foundation. The sets are numbered (1-75) and have been authenticated. Printed by Mourlot, Paris in 1974.
